A year later…
A year of firsts.
A year of learnings.
A year of growth.
A year of doing what I truly love.
I never really understood it when people said “this is my dream job”. I think I sort of understand it. I’ve been working for myself, teaching across SW London & central for a year now. What a year it has been.
There have been moments where I’ve questioned if i’m good enough.
There have been moments where I’ve questioned if I really want to start work in the evenings.
There have been moments where I’ve had to say no to LOTS of social events.
But at the end of the day, I’m doing what I love. I’m sharing movement with others. I’ve built my own schedule, I’ve created a WhatsApp group full of clients who enjoy my classes, my (odd) sense of humour & who love showing up for themselves week after week.
There have been moments of learnings. I’ve learnt where I want to teach, what style of Pilates & Yoga I want to teach (no fluffiness here). I’ve passed my reformer examination, which opened my eyes, brain & body to so much more. Most recently, I had the opportunity to go to India to be part of a 50 hour Yin Yoga filming project. Upon arriving in India, I had moments of self doubt, imposter syndrome settling in, but once I met everyone, I quickly learned that everyone was there for the same reason.
So, take hold of those experiences when they’re handed to you.
Make sure to not get stuck or obsessed with planning the ‘perfect’ lesson plan, you’re teaching the bodies in front of you!
Clients want to connect & communicate, so talk, find out about their day, their week or weekend. Sometimes people need someone different to offload, or simply just want to be heard.
Here’s to teaching at my first UK Retreat this Spring. Continuing to think up creative ways to move & remind everyone that at the end of the day it’s just a practice.
